With my shop done I spent some time installing cabinets and shelves and had to move LOTS of parts and multiple engines, tools, etc. The final step was driving the 67 out there.
I have run the engine several times and since all systems are connected (gas, brakes, etc.) I decided to just drive it out back.
First drive of what is basically a complete car (mechanically).
As I complete small steps the car gets start and run to keep everything lubricated and operational.
Really enjoying the new space. You can see the compressor cabinet in that front corner.
Short of the headlight surround area the car is ready for sealer and then paint.
To create the crisp lines where the hood and fenders align I'm using a short strand fiber filler for strength.
Same on drivers side.
This is a complex curved area and the fender is just inner and outer metal stacked to create the headlight socket. The trim ring covers the edge, but it can only cover so much.
Blocking the lines flat and straight to match hood.
I block a little and keep checking against the hoods lines.
The headlight bucket has a point that aligns with the fender/hood style line.
Getting there.
Sanding and fitting the ring. Need to leave enough space for sealer, paint, and clearcoat.
Matching hood line and gap.
Happy with the alignment.
There is seam sealer at the fold of the front fender. Now that all of the big tweaking is done, I replaced the sealer.
Primed and blocked. Ready for paint day.
I will be painting the hood, trunk, and doors off of the car and then basically the tub exterior. The engine compartment and interior are painted, but to this point I had never addressed the trunk.
Epoxy primed and then seam sealed as the trunk like everything was striped to bare metal.
Used the heat/sound deadener I used on the interior floor.
Final step was paint and clearcoat in t he trunk. The gas float access plate, the area it installed on and the jack holders and spare holder were taped off from getting the ceramic coating.
