My neighborhood has no covenants and many of my neighbors have outbuildings so I drew some permits to build a new storage space.
The cement base is oversized with front ramps and I went with 10' walls so the center ceiling would be plenty high for a lift.
I used Coast to Coast Carports and was able to get a color very close to our pool house so it blends in the yard well.
The more panels they install the larger it seems to get.
Once the outside was erected I had to do any other mods I wanted. I knew I wanted to drywall so I had to create some basic framing to hold the drywall.
I used metal brackets to secure boards to the metal frame allowing me the opportunity to drywall the shop.
I planned each area out as the build went on. This space is perfect for my drill press.
I'm building a closet for my compressor so the back wall corner is getting solid core foam since metal buildings can get loud!
The rest of the walls get a spray foam system.
The shop looks big as I build it, but I will fill this space quickly.
This is the far wall getting all of the storage and the mini split AC/Heat unit.
Using the thinnest drywall I could for weight reduction. I dread knowing I have to tape and putty all of these.
I treated the top of the walls the same. Foam to leave airflow, then spray foam, then drywall.
Same process on all walls.
The bump out in the corner is the closet I built to hold the compressor. I installed acoustic sound proofing tiles inside and a filtered air input. I started installing the black 4 inch rubber molding along the bottom of the walls.
I went with Versatile brand Roll on Rock. Very nice tough coating that looks great! With all of the walls insulated to meet the roof insulation the temperature holds well.
The walls are painted gray and all trim is white or black to match the colors in the floor. Lots of space now and eventually I will be installing a four post lift to store my other car in the far bay space as well as the Roadster.
Due to the corrugated style of metal there are gaps at the roll up doors. I went with whisker style seals that keep bugs out and help keep my AC in!
So I'm decorating my space as I go. I removed this waitresses food tray and now she is properly displaying a Roadster.
My wife commemorated my shop build with a new Motor Works sign complete with the shop completion date. Time to move in!
